Taming Budgies
( This page is from my experience only.)

First off, you should start off with 1 or 2 budgies, never more than that. You should always have bird's wings clipped when you first get them or it won't be very fun at all to Train your bird. There is pretty much only one really big thing that you need to have to train a bird and that is PATIENCE!
The first time you put your hand in the cage go in very slowly, chances are that the your bird will fly around the cage. Just keep trying while doing so you could be talking to your bird letting him get used to your voice. Once you have got the bird cuddle him in to hands against your trust to ensure the bird that you will not hurt it. Then try and and get the bird to step up onto your finger. It will take many tries to get the bird to figure out how to step up. Another way that might help the bird to step up is to rub the birds stomach, this will make the bird lose his balance a little bit, he will have no choice but to step up or fly off.Continue working with and talking to your bird every couple of hours for the first 2 to 3 days. After about 2-3 weeks your bird probably have learned to step up on your finger. If you want to teach them to step up on to your shoulder just place them on your shoulder once in a while and they will climb around your neck and shoulder area.
